a view of the waterfalls in the virgin forests in Teresópolis which runs through
the Parquequer river, near Recife, Brasil)
Anhand der Topographie und der Vegetation erscheint es als sicher , daß es sich um eine Landschaft in der Anfang des 17.Jh. hinzuerworbenen hollaendischen Kolonie Brasilien in Recife handelt.
Es gibt zwei Maler, den Vater und den Sohn mit gleichen Namen. Der Vater
starb vor 1661.
There are two painters by the same name, the father who died
before 1661, and the son.
Dieses Gemaelde datierbar ca 1660-70 stammt vermutlich von der Hand des
Sohnes.
This painting which dates from 1660 - 70 is most likly done by
the hand of the son.
Der Kunsthistoriker Erik Larsen schrieb: /the arthistorian Erik Larson wrote : " aside from
the well-known artists, other painters, draughtsman and engravers must have been
gravitating toward this most interesting and stimulating little Court. They were
doubtless entranced by the great adventure, by the opportunity to interpret
exotic themes, either on the spot or after sketches made in these foreign parts
and vicariously used after their return a patria "

Only a few paintings by this rare artist are kown, and now in the Museums
of Budapest, Warschau and Bristol.
Nur wenige Landschaften des Malers sind bekannt.Das Museum in Budapest
besitzt ein signiertes Werk des selten vorkommenden Kuenstlers (Lit: Nederlandse
17de eeuwse schilderijen uit Boedapest,
Ausstellungskatalog Utrecht und Koeln,
1987, cat. no. 36, illustriert)
Weitere Gemaelde befinden sich in den Sammlungen von Wilanow Castle, Warschau und der City Art Gallery, Bristol.
